IMPORTANT: Letter from the Lansing Central AA Board of Directors

ATTENTION LANSING AREA GSRs!

The following letter is from the Board of Lansing Central AA (approved June 2, 2025) to all of the AA groups served by LCAA. The LCAA Board kindly requests you READ THIS LETTER OUT-LOUD to your home group, either at a business meeting, or at the appropriate announcement time at your meeting. Thank you!

Dear Lansing area AA groups,

Since 1981 Lansing Central AA has provided a central hub for the Lansing AA community, with meeting spaces, shared information, and a central office to serve the 100-plus AA groups in the greater Lansing area in order to support you in your primary purpose of serving the alcoholic who still suffers.

Among its many services, Lansing Central AA publishes the AA meeting guide, maintains the Lansing area AA website, staffs and runs the 24-hour phone service, runs the retail outlet for AA literature and coins, coordinates and funds Lansing area AA committee work with your contributions, and holds frequent special events like the popular annual Lansing Central AA picnic.

2024 was a challenging year for Lansing Central AA. Many area AA groups came out of the COVID epidemic with reduced budgets or added expenses, and many groups which stopped meeting have not re-started, resulting in lower than projected 7th Tradition contributions. Our main fundraiser – the retreat – has generated less money each year. Lansing Central AA also added some costs last year, including upgrading the website and incorporating digital sales. This year sales have been decreasing and personal contributions are down. The prudent reserves had to be used in May this year.

Lansing Central AA was created by and for the Lansing area AA groups and primarily depends upon groups for support.  We ask that groups and individuals, who can afford to help, make a contribution to Lansing Central AA. More importantly, we ask that you get involved. Lansing Central AA needs groups to take phone answering shifts and individuals to take Nightwatch phone shifts. Committees like Corrections, Treatment, Public Information, and Activities are always in need of volunteers. Please call the Lansing Central AA office or email lansingaa@gmail.com for more information. We are all in this together.

Grateful in service,

Your Lansing Central AA Board
