In 1986, I was asked to attend a one day mini-conference in Lenawee County and set up a little display for them. It was an all day event 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
After attending, I thought this would be something we could do in Lansing.

So on May 3, 1997, we had a potluck dinner at Immaculate Heart of Mary church with old timers sharing 20-50 years of sobriety. We had a good turnout, so the next year we rented the Country Creek Reception Hall at 5859 5. M-99, just west of Waverly Road.
On May 2, 1998, we had our second dinner and the turnout wasn’t good. We barely covered our costs. So the next year we moved to the Clark Conference Center at St. Lawrence Hospital. This did not cost us anything, May 8, 1999. So on May 6, 2000, we stayed at the Clark Conference Center From 2001 to 2006, still at St. Lawrence.
We as “AA” cannot get anything for free so for rent we donated books to the Recovery Unit at St. Lawrence. In 2006, we realized we did not have enough room at the Clark Conference Center, so by May 12, 2007, we moved to Hannah Center, at 829 Abbott Road, East Lansing. From 2008 to 2011, we stayed at the Hannah Center.
Our attendance dropped off, so on May 12, 2012, we moved back to the Clark Conference Center. From 2013 to 2015, we were back at the Clark Conference Center.
Attendance picked up, so back to Hannah Center May 14, 2016. From 2017 to 2019, back at the Hannah Center.
In 2020 and 2021, there was no dinner because of COVID. From 2022 to 2024, back to the Hannah Center. This year, May 10, 2025, Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbott Road, East Lansing HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE
