What’s the purpose behind the new meeting?
Patty: Grand Ledge didn’t offer any evening lady meetings at all. Most of the meetings were either for men or for open groups. So we decided we needed a ladies’ meeting in Grand Ledge, and hopefully we’re going to get some more people in. We decided to make it a closed meeting of women only. We’re going to start out with just a topic every week. I’ve asked the other girls that attended, if they think about something, a topic through the week, to write it on a paper, and then we’re going to throw it all in a basket and then pick a topic. So I’m not thinking, oh, what’s the topic going to be this week? So hopefully that works out for us.
So how long has it been going?
Patty: This will be the third week, and we doubled in people by the third week.
So what kind of crowd are you getting?
Patty: We started out with four the first week and four the second week, which were two different faces, and then we ended up with seven, seven people last night. That’s a good way to start a group.
So how else are you getting the word out about the group? Patty: Through mouth, word of mouth, and I’m also going to go to, I need to go to Central and get the group registered. Then they can get into their little handbook that they have, and it’ll be on the website. I just haven’t been over there. I just wanted to make sure everything was going smooth, and it has been. Even the church said that they were really happy that this meeting started because there was nothing out there for women in Grand Ledge.
